Comments: I'll never forget the long walk home, always seemed to be going up hill. Since I still live in Germany, I went by the old base, several of months back, and it is all but a ghost town. The Air Base no longer exists and the housing area is almost empty. Be a hell of a place to live today, nothing there. But my memories are vivid of a simpler life and all the fun we had there. The 45 min bus ride to K-town, which I rode for 4 years, 1970-74. Look forward to hearing from anyone. John Provan

Comments: Sembach has definately left wonderful child hood memories in my mind. I was there for only three years, but what an awesome three years it was! I was involved in boyscouts, baseball, football, and skateboarding. I can recall the AYA, and suicide hill, All the camp outs, volksmarches, fieldtrips, Holiday Park, and bagging at the commissary. Top Gun and Dirty Dancing were the hit movies at the time. Names of friends I can recall were vincent knight, Travis Patoka, Jimmy Parker, Antoinette, Rachael Golden, Tammy, Brandon, Chad, Aaron O'neal, Pablo, Terry etc...I graduated High School, enlisted, went to war, traveled some more to Europe, and attended college in Missouri with an excellent career in Physical Therapy.

Comments: My dad was in the 2MOB at Sembach AFB. He was in communications with Apollos 8-11. I miss Mount Whitey, Suicide Hill behind building 32. I lived at 32c6. Attended Sembach Junior High for 6th, 7th, and 8th grades. I also miss kiddie Bingo at the NCO Club and the gun club where I would go to shoot my brother-n-laws pellet rifle. Pulling plums off the farmers trees in the valley and going to Sembach Village for pizza at the Cook Leffel. Movies were only 25 cents for age twelve and under. I was twelve for almost the hole time we were there. I still don't look my age. Anyway I'm in Plano, Texas now. Hot as Heck. Dad died July 4, 2006 at age 74 of cancer. I have three kids of my own and one grand daughter. Wish I could go back just to visit, if nothing else.

Comments: I have such great memories of Sembach and the surrounding towns we lived in -Otterberg and Enchenbach (sp?). I was there for 4th-6th grades. My older brother is Wayne Richardson and Paul is the youngest. We are spread from one side of the US to the other, with me in DC, Wayne in CA and Paul in MO. My dad, now retired of course, is (Master Sgt) Harold Richardson. It would be great to hear from classmates. I don't remember last names very well, but sure remember faces. Thank goodness, I also have the small yearbook we had from 6th grade. I sadly remember our German teacher, Frau Bruce, being killed by a bus. I clearly remember the base and housing, which seemed so large at the time but the photos on this site make it look so small!

Comments: Howdy everyone. Was just browsing google when i thought of sembach. I dont remember any names of the people i knew there ie i was in the 5th grade. But...did any of you ever go to sembach village? Thats where we lived. I use to live where the street dead ended and there was a farmer who grew flowers We lived in an apt over the famers house. Right behind our apt lookin down on us was the old graveyard. My bedroom window faced it hehehe. It was an interesting view to say the least. Ive got a lot of memories of those years. The base school, the theatre, the rod and gun club. The hill behind the school where all the mice lived. Anybody else remember those things.

Comments: I was in 5th and 6th grades at Sembach. My best friends were Peter Rudolph, Mickey Prokopiak, Lew Wrenn and Scott Teel. I played Little League for the Yankees. I was in Boy Scout Troop 164. My 6th grade teacher was Miss Ackel. Frau Paul taught us German. The sledding was great. Saturday mornings we went to the movies and it was cartoons and westerns. I remember walking home in a heavy snow with Patty Oznick and thinking it was a special moment. For a time Wendy Bucheister stole my heart. Marcel Proust doesn't know the half of it.

Comments: Wow, this is pretty cool. I was too young to really remember much (especially names), but I remember I lived at 37 B4, and I remember a huge hill behind the aprtment that we would sled down and try to make it to the path leading back into the forest. I remember the "haunted" AYA that was al dilapidated and being scared to go in when all the older kids did. I remember the older kids going off to some place called "King Kong's Bathtub" or something like that. I remember splitting second grade between two teachers: Mrs. Kartcher (sp) in the am and Ms. Goodwin in the afternoons. I remember a kid named Douglas in my class that was hit by a car (my first exposure to death). I cannot remember his last name, but I remeber his face and think of him every so often. And finally, I remeber washing our car with my dad at the spigot at the Credit Union when the silent alarm got tripped and the SP's came down the hill toward us with guns drawn. Anybody that went to K-2 there and remembers me can drop me a line! It may take a little prodding, but I'm sure I'll remember you.

Comments: WOW this brings back memories!!!My brother and I (Jason) hated going to Sembach because we lost out on our cartoons and American candy! (nothing like AFN though!) But, I will say we had a lot of great times! Breakdancing at the AYA, playing Galaga at the AYA, playing guns in the forest, hanging out in the stairwells of the buildings, playing baseball, football, going to school in the dark, a couple of bomb scares, the candy and popcorn on movie days at school. Going on field trips to the Alps for skiing, hanging out in Switzerland, France, and seeing the Berlin wall before it came down while playing football there for the Tigers. Hanging out with Billy, Becky, Johnathan and Heather Bryant, and all of our friends. Watching the fireworks from the baseball field while Lee Greenwood's "Proud to be and American" plays and all of the "adults" cryed. I could go on and on, but any kid ever stationed there can honestly say they have done more in their short amount of time alive, than a lot of people ever have in the towns they might be in now. That is a special thing and a special thing about Sembach, you can say you were in a unique place with unique people that created a bond that will last for a lifetime! Comments: its been so long i have always thought about my wonderful years @ sembach and how life was so much sweeter there. my brother and i would walk to school @ 5&7 and u had no worries. i lived across from the aya and i remember going there and dancing learning to do the running man and rodger rabbit and all the field trips we went on durring summer break. my father mark sweet played football and everyone new him, we would go to his games and watch my father be a hero. that was the best times with him, he has now passed away. i have looked for two people that i will always remember eric burns/shropshire (spelling?) and chasity bagley.i still to this day think about our chilhood and friendship,if your out there send me an email i would love to hear from you!

Comments: Just a quick note to update e-mail address. What a great site, eh? Really is fun to check in every now and then and read some of the comments from those that were there after (and when) I was there. Over the years I've been able to track down several of the people I knew when I was there, Dewey MacAdoo, Terry Kalichek, Mark Stohr, James and Cindy O'Connell, Ricky Ritchie. Comments: Hi all, just an update since I have lost contact with everyone. A lot has happened since I last talked with you guys...Over the years, I've stayed in touch with people here and there, including Michele (Micki) Poulton. Things finally worked out and we were married this past June. We are living in Los Alamos, New Mexico. Michele teaches English as a Second Language (k-12). I'm finishing my degree in Electronics Engineering and enjoying being a dad to Mackenna, Michele's 16 year old son and Katja, her 20 year old daughter who lives nearby in her own apartment. Rhonda Stewart (Klee) came out to see us the week we got married and she stayed for a few days. Saw Royce Gabbert a couple years ago in Phoenix when he adopted some ferrets from me. Quick re-cap: Left Sembach, moved to Australia for 2 years where I met my hubby, moved to Idaho for 2 years and graduated. Moved back to Australia to get married 1 week after graduation. Hubby is navy and was stationed in Darwin for 4 years, then stationed to Cairns for 4 years (yes, these are Australian cities) now we are living in Perth with our 4 year old son. Comments: Whoa, this is cool. My older brothers are Tony, Mike, and John Dalmaso. If you lived there between 74-77 you had to know one of us. We were the long haired foursome, some of us troublemakers (the Fun kind). My little sister was Marisa, she once made out with the 2nd story neighbor, one of the Stalworths, whose uncle was John Stalworth of the awesome 70's Pittsburgh Steelers. Truly a great time, AYA, foosball, the woods, (hedgehogs), suicide hill, jumping frog contests, getting lost on that trip to Mainz on Oktoberfest(thanks for leaving me to jog 20 klicks to the nearest German Police outpost at 10 yrs old). My best freind was James Harrison, his sister dated the guy that could do a wheely all the way down the block, and always had the latest funk from the states. Too many cool people to list. I was a friend of hers at Hahn before/after she moved to Sembach. Several years ago I sent a generic letter to Kurt Falkenstein in Virginia and it turned out to be her dad. He forwarded my letter and she got in touch with me. We again lost contact a couple of years ago. Her younger sister, Becky died almost a year ago. Comments: *A quick up-date* I noticed my last entry way back had my old e-mail addresses on it. Since them, I got married & live in Santa Fe, New Mexico. My husband and I moved back to his home town after we met in New Hampshire. I'm a graphic designer and performer (singer/actress). My husband is a real-estate appraiser and professional photographer. I have been married for 21 years and have a son, Stuart who is 16 and a daughter, Ciara who is 14. We live in Wasilla, Alaska.
