Comments: Hello fellow Sembachers - I have been following the comments for a few weeks while searching for lost friends. I have seen some inquiries as to what happened to Sembach AFB. I recently spoke to German friends who live in Winnweiler, they said Sembach flightline was returned to the Germans, however, the base side was leased out to Russians, Hungarians, Polish, you name it. They said it has basically become a "Ghetto." They also said that there are no more Americans living in the area. They also said that Germany is no longer the place we would remember from the 1980's. Peaceful, SAFE, beautiful, etc. Many thefts, rapes, etc. in the country where one could once sleep with the windows open leave you house unlocked when you went to the BX or walk the street in the early morning hours without being afraid. People are afraid to be out late at night. I was in dismay when I heard them describe the neglect and mayhem. Hope this answers everyones questions.

Comments: What a great web page. I am glad to see that there are so many other people who have as fond memories of Sembach as I do. Some of my friends were, Jackie Bornhoft, Tony Torrez, Ted Dietz, Lorrie Mandigo. I remember playing football for the Sembach Sr. Tigers, and winning all of Germany in 1980. Our coach was Jasper Freeman. Whatever happened to the Cool Breed? I'd like to hook up with some old friends. I can also hook you up to my Sister, Carol, or my Brother, Bruce.

Comments: Came to Sembach when Pruem was turned over to the Army. Went to K-Town for the year or so at SAB. Remember the fishbowl really well, pranged many of my model aircraft there flying with Glenn Crowder. Model airplane club was in the shack across from the bubble. Left just befor Nov 1966 heading to March AFB with my father, Supply type.

Comments: My sister, Kym, told me about this great web site, and I have finally gotten on-line. It is so nice to see so many familiar names out there. I would love to hear from anyone that remembers me. Some of the people I am looking for are Kim Smith, Allyson Carrick, Mrs. Betsy Castle, and Kathe Hale ('82). The big thing that has happened to me in the past 15 years is that my husband and I had identical triplet girls in 1994, so I am busy with them while teaching childbirth classes at a local hospital once a week. Some of you may remember that my mother is an identical twin and we have seven other sets of twins in the family, so I guess we should have been prepared for more than one baby!! Comments: Enlisted in USAF and immediately returned to Bitburg AB. Frequented K-Town often until 1982 when I PCS'd to Whiteman AFB MO and ran into a few more K-Towners! I spent twelve years at Whiteman, and not counting a variety of temporary deployments, I've been to Wright-Patterson AFB, OH, where I again ran into some fellow K-Towners. I'm currently stationed with the 377 SFS at Kirtland AFB (Albuquerque) NM.

Comments: Hello again everyone, I see my sister left a message. I hope she has as much luck finding people as I have. I was re-reading the opening page about what you remember. I remember how we all used to say we were going to kiss the american soil as soon as we got off the plane home. And how we wanted stateside candy in carepackages, and how TV shows were often out of order if they were serials. That and many more are coming back. Like how almost everyone painted the stairwells at Christmas. And the large picture windows too. What holiday spirit.

Comments: I'm really thrilled to see that there is an effort being made to keep everyone in touch! I don't know how many remeber me but I would love to here from any of you that do. I just got back from the K-town reunion in San Deigo. What a BLAST!!!!!! There were several Sembachers there and it was really great seeing them. Rob Young, a fellow K-town grad. has kept up with alot of people and was really instrumental in getting us all together. Comments: What a great web page, as I read through these numerous comment pages, it becomes so clear to me that Sembach was truly a wonderful place. I was just 12 years old but I recall it all so entirely. Who could forget Mt. Whitey? I remember the gorgeous forests surrounding the base, and the Valley that still leaves a post card image in my thoughts. I could ramble on but it has all been said by so many of you. I was in the 5th and 6th grade and have a copy of the 65-66 Tiger Era” Year Book. There I am listed in Miss Patton's class. It would be great to hear from any of my old class mates.

Comments: The things you can find on the internet amaze me. What a fun page to stumble upon. I have many many fond memories from the days back in sembach. Seeing all these names from the past stirrs up even more . (as someone else asked...anybody else still remember the words to" Rappers Delight"). Remember bike trips thru France with Mr. Depauw, or fun teachers like Mr. T & Frau Schindler? I live in Sacramento now. When I left Germany in 1980, we moved to Oklahoma. I stayed there thru college & for about 5 years after that. Then in 1993, I moved out here to Ca, where my family moved to from Oklahoma. I just got married last year, but no kids just yet.
