Comments: Heard about this page from the Hartsells. I was active in the Real People. Actually lived off-base in Otterberg. My wife, Frances (Murdaugh), is also a Sembacher. She lived on Sembach 1969 - 1973. We did a tour in Germany 1990 -1993. It was great to visit Sembach and K-town. Our son, Richie, attended Heidelberg High School. Our daughter, Emily, attended MTV elementary. Hope to get Emily back to Germany for her High School years!

Comments: Hi, to all Sembacher's We lived at Sembach 81-84 then Ramstein 84-91. I (Lee) worked ov-10's at sembach then went to HQUSAFE MSET then back to Semback to work A-10's. Family active in boy & girl scouts, church, K-Town Kingfish Swim Team. Sue worked at the video club at Sembach and later at Ramstein HQ Stars and Stripes. We, are interested in hearing from friends from the past. Sue & I live in Alpena, MI where I am the Airport MAnager and Sue works at the Library...drop us a line we want to hear from you.

Comments: Hi Sembachers! My dad was stationed with the missle wing at Sembach in the early 60's, and we lived "on the economy" in Alsenborn for a while before moving into base housing...Like many others who've left comments on this page, I have some good memories of life there. Chiefly, it was the best damned sledding! From the top of the hill above Alsenborn, near what we'd called the old folks home, (what was that place anyway??) down to the road that crossed the tracks to Enkenbach... Later lived in Building 75. We were there when Kennedy was assasinated, the whole base on alert, and having Thanksgiving with our dads at the site's chow hall. Lining up at the base theater for oral polio vaccine. The AYA, Boy Scout troop's Easter Trip to Berlin, the kids choir at the chapel. Mr. Daharsh's fifth grade class with the wasps on patrol and the leaking water main. Playing war in the woods, potato fights with the german kids. Walking home from the housing area theater on a foggy night after seeing Barbara Stanwyck (sp?) in "Nightstalker"! Lotsa memories, but can't remember alot of the names, except for the Yenchik brothers, Kent Smith and his sweetie Kathy and the Colberts who lived next door in 75A6. I'd like to hear from any of you, and would be interested in any history, Official AF or not, of the base and the MACE missle program. Is that MACE still a gate guard at the base or have they retired that too??

Comments: This is amazing. I was floating out in cyberspace and found this link. Whoever devised this is really on the ball and has been added to my list of living saints. I miss Sembach a great deal even though I lived off base in Enkenbach-Alsenborn. I joined the Marine Corps Reserve in 1988 and have traveled a great deal since. I still recollect that tiny little patch of airstrip called Sembach with great fondness. I have only recently started looking for old friends and thanks to pages like this, I was able to find several. I went to Desert Storm and won the Bronze Star with combat V and Navy Accomandation Medal with combat V. I have a Master's degree now in Historical Restoration and Preservation. Several times a year while working I think back to doing summer hire scut work out at the Site 8 bomb dump. I was making $2.90 an hour. Talk about a slave wage. :-) Anybody remember the K-Town\Ramstien HS football game in the bowl? I watched Neal Robinson make the most beautiful reception I have ever seen there. I thought that place was going to collapse. God, I miss that. Well, if any of you know me holler at me sometime. Be Sweet

Comments: MOST kids from the early 70's will remember my family because my dad was the base chaplain, FRANK HARTSELL. HE started the REAL PEOPLE that did all those ski trips and stuff. MY brothers are JEff and MARK; my mom is JOYCE. WE all have fond memories...I remember BOXIE HUGHES, CINDY WIDICK, & KATHY HALFKEMEYER, just to name a few. Comments: amazing! i actually remember two of you on here so far. i lived in enkenbach and fondly remember the busrides. i was looking at the map of the base and chills went up my spine. all those hours at the bookstore and waiting for mom at the NCO club. i used to hang out with mike parnell, gary warren, don pollard, curtis palmer, marco nardi among others. i dated sherri jordan for awhile and then remember getting dumped by her for mark keaton. lusted after kim curry and theresa henderson. teachers: miss dave depauw alot. food: loved it. gawd i still dream of zweibelsuppe and pomme frites from the imbiss. i'd go back in a heartbeat...

Comments: Hi everyone from Sembach, I was stationed at Sembach from '73 to '75 and was a dental assistant at the clinic. I can't believe this page exists. I played on the football team and spent many hours at the bowling alley drinking Bischoff. Favorite pastime- watching everyone slip and slide to the mailroom. I met my wife Beckee at Sembach. Her father was Col. John Reddoch. He worked very hard to get the F-86 put up. Is it still there? I have many fond memories of Sembach. I really enjoyed looking at the map. I've since gone to Dental school and work for the University of Texas Medical Branch.

Comments: Wow! Isn't the internet great? My family did two tours in Germany. 60-63 and 66-70. I actually lived in a number of places including Ramstein, Kaiserslautern, and Sembach. Dad was with the 38th TAC Missile Wing first time and the 86th Air Division. Louis E.(Marty) & Norah Lee Martorano. I really miss the place. Moved to Oregon after college at Univ. of So. Calif. It reminded me of Germany so much. I would love to hear from anyone who knew me. We used to call the sled hill, Humpty Dumpty Hill. I guess because of the whoop dee doos or the crashes it sometimes caused. Those were the best of times. Does anyone Hollander? Comments: Retired from the AF in 1983, didn't actually leave Sembach, mentally. Stayed in the area teaching for Troy State Univ. and University of Maryland. Ended up employed at Ramstein for another 12 years at 316th AD and USAFE headquarters. Gave it up and retired from civil service in Dec 95 and relocated to Tiger Country, Columbia, Missouri. Our son Thomas, (Sembach Elementary/Sembach Middle/Sembach Junior High) (KAHS Class of 89) + two years at UofMD, Munich, graduated of University of Missouri this year. Would like to hear from anyone else of the Sembach family.

Comments: I was stationed at Sembach with 601st Headquarters Squadron. I was editor of Tiger Talk. I still think fondly of soccer, Imsweiler, Bischoff. I used to ride my bike down a county highway and up a steep hill to an old castle that was mostly ruins. I'd take some food and sleep up there, and at dusk, I could hear the cukoos in the forest. Comments: I remember Sembach and K-Town. I have been wondering where I could find some old friends. Remember Slumberson for Government? How about that great food from the German trucks out back of the school? :) I ended up attending SWT and sped through in 3 1/2 years. Now I work in the aerospace industry (but not NASA, just across the lake from them) in Houston. For a reminder of who I am, I sang at our baccalaureat service at the Sembach Chapel (short red head). Just look me up in the year book. I haven't grown any, still short. Oh well. Hope to hear from some old friends soon.
