Comments: This is amazing, I can recall alot of memories, suicide hill, and run from the mp's down by the fence line where we weren't not allowed. Remeber walking to school in the dark from base housing, and wondering if the sun would ever come out, or if it would ever get warm. If anybody remembers me drop a line.

Comments: Ihr seit ja alle verueckt. Live in Deutschland since 81, still live there in some form or another. K-town is a one of a kind place with one of a kind people. Lot's of friends and lot's of memories, or maybe not. Can't remember. If you know me write, if not write, I am in constant contact with Kaiserslautern, and can help find people still living there, both German and American. Be glad to help if i can. Tchuess.

Comments: How is Sembach today? As you can see I left there In 82. I graduated from K-Town in 81. I need some info ASAP about what retiree privileges are, i.e. Commissary and BX. My mom is from Germany and will be returning on vation to Regensburg at the end of this month. I know Munich has an Army base with a commissary and exchange. Do you have a ration system or does a person need a special card other than ID to get into the BX or exchange. I have lots of other questions and great stories to tell about my time at sembach or as we used to call it "skumbatch air patch." If anybody would like to share e-mail and has the info I would greatly appreciate it. My email address is leo@aloha.com. I'm in the Air Force and station at Hickam AFB, Hawaii. Thanks Leo

Comments: Great to see that there is a way to contact former Sembacher's. I lived there in the early 80's. I've been wondering what happened to some of my old friends. Kept in touch with a few, but it's been awhile. Anyone out there know Tobey Lee Hannsz? How about Trudy Backus? Heather and Mike Thomas, Mike Thompson? Anyway....I'm married now to a guy that is in the Air Force (no big surprise there [grin]). We are stationed at Malmstrom AFB in Montana. Before that we were at Griffiss AFB in NY. I have two sisters....Susan Knight (graduated in 87 at Torrejon AFB) and Melissa Knight. They both live in Illinois now. Anyone want to correspond just email me at: jimandtracy@mcn.net.

Comments: I taught SCUBA Diving at Sembach, Ramstein, Bauhmholter.ECT.. Was Stationed at the Fire Dept. as a SSGT.. Loved Sembach & most of it's personel. The base leadership was great. Can't say anything about the F.D.. With Germany came both my children, OCT 89 & JULY 92. Memories galore. Now own my business in Oregon and my own house. Still married after 15 great years. Sembach was the turning point in our life (THANKS MARKLEY). I hope to hear from some of our old friends.

Comments: Stationed there not as brat. Was 38th Missile Wing Hq with Hahn, Bitburg, Spangdalem under them. Been long time. Been Back in the 70s for visit and had not changed all that much. Best football stadium in Europe. Was in 2134 Comm Sq before it was AFCS. Worked in Comm Center and the Base & Tactical Switchboards. Walked up & down all those steps to the Tac Swbd. If I remember right the Tigers won championship in 1963. Berlin crisis saw large increase in man power to base mostly from reserves in 1962. Would like to see more history about base as whole. Back then biggest treat was around 1962 when a mobile Pizza trailer was parked at the t intersection road to town of Sembach. Married in the bergermeister office in 1963. Ate in the chow halls (what they were called then) it was an experience, since most of us did not drink butter milk that much, nor could we get good chocalate milk, though they did try with some variations. Hwy 40 to K-twn was a dangerous then too. Lived in town of Meghlingen (I think) and missed all the small town wursts fests. Is the Matador missile structure still at the top of the Hill, it always impressed me and reminded me back then why we were there. Well I am over my 100 words sorry. Take out what you want. Like to hear from anyone that was there. -Tony Worsley

Comments: Good God! There are others out there after all. We got to Sembach in 1978, left in 1981, came back in 1986 and I finally left in 1990. Any body out there from KAHS class of '89? Well, to let those of you who went to KAHS with me know, I lived out a lot of my dreams so far (and a few extra). I became the writer I said I would, joined the Air Force and will be finishing my degree to become an officer in the next few years (child birth and marriage kind of side stepped me). So any of you fools who went hooping and hollerin' with me, email me or write to me at the following address:

Comments: This was a great idea. Does anyone remember skipping school and catching the bus to K-town? If so, I was probably with you. What about that wind on the hill near the bowling alley on those cold nights walking home from the movies. And those blue busses to school--the german bus drivers didn't care what you did!!! If anyone remembers me, my brothers Ted and Johnny, my sister, Mary, or our collie, Duke, I'd love to hear from you.

Comments: (I can't believe this!) Yes, I remember the steel mat on the commissary parking lot and the many weekends drinking beer in the Maid's Rooms of base housing! I attended 6th-9th grades at Sembach & part of 10th at K-town. I wouldn't trade the experience for anything! I was waterboy for the Tigers in '75 when they lost every game. I still have the jersey they gave to me. My brother died in a car wreck on B-40(?) in 1977 so we PCS'd right away. But I never forgot The Bach!

Comments: Great page! My family and I lived at Sembach from 84-88. My children, Scott, Wendy, Eric, and Jason (Bond) attended school at Sembach Elementary, Jr HS, and K-Town HS. We lived in Gundersweiler when we first arrived, and later, on base at 94A3. Those were such lovely apartments! I miss getting curry wurst from the little Imbiss just outside the gate. Also, Christmas in the walk platz at K-town was beautiful. I managed the telephone switchboard there for the Comm Sq., and my wife Barbara was the secretary for the NCO Club (old and rec. center locations but not the new one). I would love to hear from anyone who remembers our family. Send an E-mail and I promise to answer. One thing I don't miss is hearing "Alarm Red" blaring outside my bedroom windows during REFORGER. Sembach was a good home and provided a nice place for my familty to grow. Remember the "Tigers".

Comments: This is a great idea! I went to Sembach in 1977-78, then to K-Town for high school, graduating in 1982. My most vivid memory of Sembach was all the neighboring farmers fertilizing (the old fashined way!) at the same time!!!! I thought I would die!!! Anyway, anyone who went to Sembach or even K-Town, I'd like to hear from you and share some other military brat memories!!! (folks who grew up in one place all their lives just don't understand!!) P.S. I was in 8th grade at Sembach and went by the name Criss Ring, which I changed back to Susan for high school.

Comments: Great page. I was stationed at Sembach as the Airfield Manager during the fall of the Berlin Wall and until shortly after the Gulf War. I miss friends, wein probing, volks- marches, and late evenings at the O'Club and Gasthauses. I've had friends return there since the airfield closed and they say it's pretty depressing. I still stay in touch with a lot of Sembach friends.

Comments: I went to KAHS from 64 to 66, class of 66. I lived on Ramstein AB but spent a lot of time on Sembach with Carl Stellwag and others. My step-daughter lives in Vogelweh Housing now, right across from KAHS. From the pictures she has sent it hasn't changed in thirty years except for the fence that is around it. The memories came back, for my last birthday she sent a Parkbrau mug.

My sister, Brenda, was also there, a year behind me. I have the where abouts of Marlene Micheals, also, but I don't know if she has a computer. Would like to hear from any of my friends from Sembach. Comments: Hi all! Anybody out there from the class of '64? We came to Sembach in the middle of 10th grade from Toul-Rosieres, France, and left right after 11th. I hung around with Kathy LaCroix a lot if anybody remembers. We spent a LOT of time at the Teen Club (as we called it then) when it was still relatively new. There were about 6 or 8 of us who were the first base cheerleaders, and I still have slides showing some of our car parades thru housing before base football games. (Was it really over 30 years ago?? :(

Comments: Yikes, a Sembach page! It was so informal back then (ancient times), we used to have lunch, parked out on the runway parking pads, launch model rockets out in a farmer's field behind the "apartments," watch movies in that funkey little movie building, listen to music at the teen club, and eat pizza and play fussbal at Rudy's. I learned how to drive there (what a process!), and got my first Real Job (moving furnature, working in the warehouse, cutting grass out on the field. Couldn't drink the beer in the states when I got back (besides for age reasons at the time, it still tastes weird to me). I don't miss the endless grey mornings (days!) or the dark mornings and evenings on the bus to K-Town, but it would be great to visit with some of the people I knew. I'm glad I had the chance to live there! Thanks for the Site!

After graduation from K-town, I spent two years at U of Maryland, Munich. I visited Sembach in August this year with some other K-town graduates that still live in Germany. (The base is inactive, but the housing is still used.) It would be great to hear from old friends. Carrie.

Comments: Hi, I also moved to Germany in '76 as a 4th grader and stayed for 4 great years. My family lived in Schweisweiler, a small village near Winnweiler. I still keep in contact with a number of friends I made during our time in Germany. I went back to Sembach in 1992...it was largely unchanged. Did anyone else stay at the Rosenhof Gasthaus in Mehligen at the beginning or end of your tour? My family is still good friends with the woman who ran it ... one of the first friends we made in Germany. Thanks, Jane

Comments:Hi, I moved to Sembach in '76 as a 4th grader. My dad Is Dr John H Smith as was principal of Sembach Jr High from 76-83. He was then transferred to Kaiserslau tern Elem. We, however, didn't move as my folks had bought a house in Munchweiler.(home of the Blau Licht disco) I caught the bus along with about 10 other kids at 730 AM. It dropped the high school kids off at the parking lot of the new commissary which is where we caught other buses to Ktown. We always got there just as the bells were ringing (845am) Since I played sports, I would have to ride the activity bus home. Most nights I didn't get home until well after 7pm. Does anyone remember the cross country trail in Sembach???(1.5) We had to run it every Wed in PE class and use to argue over which direction to go(down the short but very steep part first or down the long but more gradual steep part....either way was tough! E mail me at IndigoKat@aol.com. Thanks, Heidi Smith
