Comments: hey there, this is denise tompkins... it is so great that this site exists, we had so many friends in sembach. i was born there and am half german and we lived on sembach air base for 4 years, mt whitey : definitely! AYA dances /every friday nite we could!! Comments: I have fond memories of my years in Sembach! I've seen a few names I recognize. Of course, Tamara Dumas (she's my cousin). Kathy Tweedy (I remember we got our letter jackets the same day & wore them even though it was a warm day), ha!ha! We were pretty excited! Gary Hendricks, we shared some grade classes together (Ms. Nichols, Ms. Neisler, and Mr. Massa, comes to mind, 4th, 5th, & 6th grades, respectively). I remember names like Kevin Boyd, Mike (can't remember his last name, but he had dark hair & played basketball, John Dalmaso, the twins (Bianchotti's), Lanny & Jeff England, Kenny Walker as well. I'm going off memory here because my yearbooks were ruined over the years...anyways! My friends that regretfully I no longer have contact with, but they were Alyson Pollulech, Debbie Dortch, Kim Sklar, to name a few.

Comments: I saw this site years ago, but never posted any comments. It's great reading about everyone I knew back then...it brings back a lot of memories...AYA dances, class trip on the Rhine river (our train got boarded by the German Police with machine guns looking for one of us), Mt. Whitey, 140 mph on the Autobahn. Does anyone remember the movie "Grease" that we all went to and had "battle of Funk vs. Rock" in the theater after the movie? Those were the days! We can't forget Mr. "T's" class. I was on the baseball and swim team. I had an older brother, Greg that passed away in '79 shortly after he returned to the states. I hung around Jon King, Steve Hinds, the Biancotti twins (LSU classmates in 1982...small world),Ralph Kolva, Kevin Schavitz, Tammie Crumley, Jill Bolduc, Stella Bucklew, Mary Calabro, Rhonda Lemon, Shannon Steiner, Kathy Walker and many others. Sherrie Crumley and I "went-together" for while till I moved back to the states in '79. We kept in touch for long ! time until she moved back to Huntsville, AL. where we met-up again. We were all one family and supported each other. Comments: I came across a website and I thought I'd ask some questions. Our family got orders to be stationed at Sembach next year (9/2007), and I wanted to ask questions to someone who has been to that area, before I make up my mind whether we will decline the orders or not. My biggest questions are how is base housing around there? Is it pretty run-down or are there newer ones being built? Also, do you have any information about the base and Kaiserslautern? I'm trying to educate myself as best as possible before making a decision, but I can't seem to find any info or pictures online. I have about 2 days to make up my mind. Comments: Hey. I lived outside Sembach on the small (I mean small) base Weirhof in the middle of nowhere. We took the 30 mile ride on the cool school bus to Sembach every day from 1978-1981 (6th to 8th grade). Anyone remember me or other kids from Weirhof that went to school at Sembach? Kids that I hung around with were: Cissy & Mark Foppe, Debbie & Denise ?, Deanna Dean, Kurt & Kirk (older brothers), Joey Evinger. . . . Anyone remember these kids? The only teacher I remember was Mr. Depauw. He was my favorite, I still have a picture he drew for me, he used to draw cartoon birds anyone remember? Wow, we had fun in Germany. Got into a lot of trouble though. I miss it, wish I could go back now that I'm older. Best experience of my life.

Comments: I was a child when my father was stationed in Sembach. I have such fond memories of the area. We were stationed there when I was 7 years old and left there just before my 11th birthday. There was a town not far from the base; I believe the name was (excuse the spelling) Borschadt. Could someone please give me some information about that town. I would love to return to the area and visit. My first experience as a Brownie was at Sembach! Comments: Greetings! I spent most of my childhood/teenage years in Mehlingen - a small village off B-40 on the way to Kaiserslautern (anybody remember the Rosenhof). There was only a few of us long-termers (e.g. Matt Hughes and Beatrix Vincent). My folks still live near Sembach and forunately my work takes me there several times a year. Remember Hilltop Theater, the Blue Light, St. Martins Platz, that old Oak tree at the intersection leading to the base, Mr T., and the orginal blue & yellow Sembach lettermen's jacket? I still wear mine (yes it still fits) and occasionally somebody will recognize it. Prost!

Comments: Was on the Wrestling team and School Safety Patrol at Sembach, left there for Pope AFB in NC for another 2 years and my dad who was a "lifer" retired and we moved to Gettysburg, PA where I graduated HS in 1973. Spent most of my life in the Gettysburg area in the corporate envirnment as an executive and law enforcement. Moved to the Phoenix, AZ area in 2003 and am semi-retired and enjoying 350 days of sun shine a year and almost no humidity. Spend my recreation time Jeeping in the deserts, mountains and canyons of the great southwest with my lovely cowgirl. I came across my Sembach yearbooks when I moved but they are still packed away but I do remember a few peoples names like James Brod and Baczewski (spelled wrong and cant remember the 1st name just remember we called him Bazooka). Oh well, if anyone was there then I think I did 8th and 9th grade there or was it 7th and 8th ? Drop me a line. Mike

Comments: Hi everyone....just returned from a European vacation and took the family by Sembach to see the 'ol place again. Other than the many tall trees that didn't exist back in the 60's, I didn't think the place had changed too much. New baseball & softball fields below the old football field were new additions since a new commissary & bowling alley had wiped out the old fields. The housing area is very quiet these days with many empty units and plans to relocate those left to clear the way for a German takeover. I've got some nice pics, including a newly renovated AYA. I often think about Sembach and all the great friends and memories that I had during that time. I made a lot of great friends and would love to keep in touch with them all. I have been married for 19 years and I have one son, Tyler 14years old. He keeps us very busy. We are living in laredo, Texas which is about two hours from San Antonio, TX. Comments: Sembach was so long ago and I was very young but for some reason it has and always will have a very large effect on my life. I started Kindergarten there and left after 3rd grade so I was young but the memories are great. I remember going to the pool at Winnweiller, playing in the bean bushes, playing my first baseball, Saturday morning movies for a quarter, Suicide hill and so much more. Tv sucked so we had to get out and do things. I have lost my class pictures and would be happy to pay someone for copies of theirs. My teachers were Hastings, Hawn, Everett and Faye from years 68 to 72. Older brother was Gary and older sister Barbara (1976). I plan on taking my wife and kids to Germany in the next year or so and will stop by Sembach to reflect on the simpler times. My kids will think im nuts but for those that lived there, well you understand.

It has been a while since I posted over a year or more but I want to thank all of you for helping me find friends from the Ramstein AYA dances, Four Corner theater movie nights, off-base pizzarea nights, etc. The Sembachers that would come to the AYA to hang out. Darlina Seales just emailed recently and I just want to list some more names you guys might know and pass on there where abouts or what they have been up to in life. I use to wrestle at Ramstein, take karate, and then got into motocross racing all over Germany and dated Linda Malcom. Howard Tresville and I use to ride our dirtbikes to K-town from Ramstein to KAHS. Hey remember the McDonalds downtown in K-town? I remember hanging with you guys during lunch time if we were not riding our dirtbikes.We also hung out at Landstuhl Castle. Lisa Botts, David Rhodes, Michael Steele, Wiedemyer, Bob MaClaren, Jeff Davidson, Jan McDonald, Susan Frammersberger, Wayne Cales, are still some of the names I am trying to find.If you any of these or people that did please let me know. Comments: Hi all you tigers, It is Shannon Harris, little sister of Ozzie Harris and baby brother Glenn Harris. I look back on this time in germany fondly. my family lived a year off base in hochspier and we went to school at the army base in Vogel Way, those kids were tough and alot of fun. We then moved on Sembach base for 3 years, I lived at 36-C-3. Loved the AYA, took ballet for 3 years there, did the recital thing. I cannot remember my German Ballet teacher's name, she was tough and taught me so much about the art and discipline of ballet. how can I ever forget the winters playing on humpty dumpty, suicide hill, mt whitey. How can I forget the summers, playing "Grunk", hiding in the stair wells, playing in the maids room, eating plums in the orchards, playing in the forests making forts. Movies at the gym. Fights after school. I remember Peter Curtis and I had a horrible fight in fifth grade. I learned all the cheer leader chants in fifth grade.It was so sad to leave in 1972. Comments: Decided to do a google search on Sembach and found this site again. I see more names that I recognize (Kiki and Leeann). It was fun reading through the messages and remembering all the fun times. I found a link that showed pictures of the base and that really brought back memories (http://www.sembachbrats.com/sphoto.html). It's hard to believe its been over 20 years ago......I can't be that old! Just had my 13th wedding anniversary (husband Jerry). My daughter (first marriage) is 16 and beautiful. My step son is 22 and going for his Civil Engineering degree at the U of A. I've been iiving in Tucson AZ since 1982 and won't be moving any time soon...had enough moving as a kid. Life is good. Comments: Oh yes, to be back in Bach. SemBACH that is. I was there when such hits as "Seasons in the Sun"by Teri Jack and "Do the Locomotion" by Grand Funk RR ruled the music charts. Mostly though in Sembach 1974, I got very much into the Bealtes eventhough it was very uncool at that time. And today? I am the fifth Beatle. In fact last year, the Preimer Beatle Tribute band, "The Fab Four" based in LA and here in Vegas called ME the fifth Beatle when they met me!! I kid you not! I did play clarinet back in the Sembach daze. Does anyone remember Ms Cocharan or Mr Haugan? (music teachers) They encouraged my love of music, now years later, I sing, play guitar, bass, piano and drums...of course....like a Beatle! A Beatle Brat that is! Luv and Peace out Fellow Brats.

Comments: Hello To Everyone from "The Bach," Just wanted to say hi to those that were at the Bach at it's zenith (76-80). The Polk brothers are doing well. I am finishing my career as a police officer(Captain) and will complete law school in December, so I can start my second career. Marlon became a Judge in Nebraska last year, Martin is an author of books on housing and Marcus is working in the medical field. I look at the Bach as a significant life event and still marvel that it was a wonderful period in my life. I still communicate with some "Bachers" and I hope all is well with everyone. Comments: I just wanted to update my information... a lot has changed since I was last on here. I married a man in the Air Force. I moved to Florida with him for our first assignment at Tyndall AFB. I did my first year of teaching while there... don't know that I will be doing that again sometime soon. Teaching 6th and 8th graders can be exhausting! We are now back at Tinker AFB for our second assignment, which can be anywhere from 2 to 5 years. We shall see... in the meantime, we have purchased our first home and are settling in for the long haul.

Our family was unable to get on base housing until 1983-84. We lived in a row of townhouses with in the city of Enkenborn-Alsenborn for about two years until we had to move(again) to Frankfurt.
