Comments: It's so wonderful to have this website back up and running again. Reading through the comments bring back such great memories. My parents still live in Sembach Village. Lots of changes since the "good old days"! I have 4 great kids...Michael 10, Matthew 11, step-son Nick 18 and step-daughter Nicole 20. My husband has decided to retire from the AF after almost 28 years next spring. I'm really nervous about entering the "civilian" world. We've been stationed in San Antonio, TX for 2 years now and will continue to stay after retirement. Would love to hear from fellow Bachers and K-towners.

Still married to Mark (8 years), two great kids! Jacob is 7, Morgan is just about to turn 5. I am working for a small local hospital in the Obstetrics Department. I am an OB Tech and I am also a Phlebotomist. I am currently enrolled in college and I am taking my pre-nursing reqs. I plan to be an OB nurse.

I wish I was a little older when I lived over there, I would have done alot more than I did. Does anyone remember the witches hat playground, or hijack hill we used to sled down near the school. Comments: Going over everyone's messages (which is a blast) and since I have added a child since my last posting, I thought I would give an update. I am still living in Arkansas and still with the same company in Pharmaceutical Sales. I now have three sons who are seven, three, and one and although it's fun, I am nuts. This past year my husband and I bought a liquor store which he is running and I am the not so silent partner. I have to say that my favorite Sembach memories were the dances at the AYA and the basketball games. Here's a mom for you but I giggle when I see the Frosted Flakes commercial and they are shouting, "We are the tigers, the mighty mighty tigers". It makes me think of all of you every time!

Comments: Hi Everyone! I can't believe I found this website! I went to Sembach Elementary and Middle School. Ms. Moss's first grade (1988-89), Ms. Brooke's second grade, Ms. Viola's third grade, Ms. Conrad's fourth grade, Ms. Lewellens's fifth grade, and sixth grade another mix of teachers (1993-94). I then moved to Olympia, Washington where I lived for four years before moving to Hopkinsville, Kentucky. The past four and a half years I've been going to college and I am majoring in elementary education. I will be doing my student teaching at Fort Campbell, KY this Spring before graduating. I'm not married yet, but I have a wonderful boyfriend of five years. I'd love to give a shout out to my old friends from school...Meredith, Amber, Nic, Kelly, Michelle, Keri...I know there are more, but it would take forever! I just want to let you know that I still think about you guys and remember all the fun times we had! I miss you guys!

Comments: Just visited Sembach and Mr. Bertschinger last week. The housing area is a bit of a ghost town. They took out the nasty green blinds from the Middle School and replaced them with some white verticals...place still looks like a prison though. Oh, and a new Autobahn that parallels B40 near the base just opened up...goes all the way to Frankfurt. Good to go back and see all the places that are still around.

Comments: My wife and I (Sally Edwards), were teachers at Sembach from 1986 to 2002. Actually, I left for K-Town in 1998 and Sally follwed me there as Art Teacher at Ktown High in 2000. We both retired from DoDDS in 2002 and are now living near the coast in Mississippi. Sally is the Visual and Performing Arts Specialist for the state of Mississippi and I am an independent Digital Media Producer - videos, DVDS, webs, etc. Would love to hear from students or faculty. I did a lot of video taping at Sembach from 1988 to 2000. We also produced a number of rough (very rough) video yearbooks on VHS tape. If you were at Sembach between 1988 and 2000 I probably have you on video tape. Especially if you were an 8th grader any of those years.

Comments: I just wanted to say hello to all the Bachers I knew who came to the AYA dances at Ramtein AFB during 74-78. I remember alot of names, but just did not personally know you, but saw you at K-town high. I am trying to find some friends and maybe some of you knew them. I dated Linda Malcom the last couple of years I was there and she had a friend Lisa Botts who played softball. I'm looking for Michael Steele, Brian Springle, Wayne Cales, Eddie?, Jeff Davidson, Susan and Diana Frammersberger, Sandy and Cindy Thrasher, Angie?, Vicki?, David Mori, Linda and Laura Malcom?, Donna Smoot, Lisa Cresman,Torsten Schmackel, and many others if this will start to jog your memories. After reading through some of your posts it brought back memories of us riding our CT-70'S and dirtbikes in the snow through base housing. I had a Grey Ford Transit Van and would haul my motocross bike to the races. Howard and I would skip school often to go ride. We rode our dirtbikes to school from Ramstein to ! Landstul to K-town. I saw Howard Tresville when I was living in SoCal for 13 yrs. I ran into Mark Oliver, Bob Rojas, Mark Sharp and others. Mark Oliver married Carol Sharp if any of you remember her. Comments: I have great memories of Sembach; starting third grade mid-way through the year in an old building just down the hill from the old movie theater (where we used to eat lunch)and then in fifth grade a brand new school was built and it was great! My fifth grade teacher was Mrs. Haycock and I remember playing crack the whip and jump rope at recess. I remember seeing "Grease" about 10 times at the new base theater. We lived off base in Mehlingen. My best friends were Elizabeth and Megan, Andrew Steele and Andrew Carroll. What fun memories!!

Comments: Some of the happiest times were at SAFB. I was the oldest dependent running around on base. I Djayed dances at the aya, rec center, nco club and the o-club. I was there when k-town got their first McDonalds. The blue room was down in some village. The Baider meinhoff bunch was raising cane. I use to work at foodland and then the commisary. I sometimes would like to revisit the base to see if the old football stadium is still there. There was nothing like base housing the night a superbowl game was played. All lights on in the midle of early moring. At the time I was there Gen. Bellis was wing comander and Gen.Hodges base comander. I was the oldest yet civilian dependent on base and those were times I think of way to often.

Comments: Glad to see this site is up and running again!! Many many fond memories of Sembach -especially remember my buddies Dave Thedford, Sam Young, Mike and Steve Malone. Also Jude Sault, Dolly Widner (sp?), Janet Kangas, Steve Pagan, Darlene Butte, Kathy Davis. Those were the days. So many fun and memorable times, the football, basketball and baseball teams, Munchweiler, Sembach Village, walking down to Winnweiler for swimming, Philosophers Corner, Night of The Living Dead at the theater and afterwards, the old grave yard outside of Sembach village on the way back up to the base, sledding Mt. Whitey, the teen club (AYA), the all-area dances, the 3 day rock festival in Aachen, trip to Amsterdam, and just all the incredible great times and close friendships with people. I still have lots of clippings from the Sembach Sentinel of our sports from AYA teams. Would be awesome if we could somehow post those and many more pics from that time, including yearbook stuff. Hope to connect with some of you!!!

Comments: Some of the best years of my life were at Sembach. I can close my eyes and see me and my brother Kenney sledding down Humpty Dumpty. That was a small hill just across the street from our stairwell. Some of my friends were Roger and Eric Ervin, Tom and Todd Harthon, and Scott Akerly. We use to play in the woods all around the base. My father was CMSGT Otis D. Allen.

Anyway, I'm still living in Australia but have moved from Darwin to Cairns, which is in the tropics AND on the coast. Really pretty. Comments: Nice to see a site for Sembach! I attended 6th through 8th at the base, and unfortunately have lost touch with all my buds. I lived off base, but spent quite a bit of time there with school and scouts. things i remember: Ms. Leonard, the pre-cal teacher, bagging groceries on pay day at the little store up the hill from the commissary, running cross country through the fields outside the fence next to the school, getting kicked out of the sembach library, playing wall ball behind the gym. I also remember a WWII shell being found in the center of the football field. I'd love to reminisce with others who were at the base during the late 80s.

Comments: What up Bachers; glad to see the site is back up; The memories from the Bach last a lifetime as well as the friendships. I had 3 older brothers Mark (Sam), Martin (Cakes) and Marcus. All my brothers are doing well. We lived in Bldg 34 at the edge of the Circle. My dad owned the big city bus that he would drive around the base carrying his band and us to the commissary (embarassing). Since coming back stateside in 1981 I have seen the following Bachers over the years: Rodney Rice, Dan & Vincent Knight, Larry Teague, Peter & Heidi Barth, Kathy Eye, Michelle Shelton, Sean Connors, Jackie Barnhoff, Tina Tatro and Boo Boo Harris. I graduated from Univ of Neb and then was fortunate to go to law school. I live in Omaha Nebraska with my beautiful wife and 3 kids (10, 8 and 3). I have a corporate law firm with 4 other lawyers downtown. I see Peter Barth twice a year; Looking for Russ Christensen and any update on Boo Boo. Many, many great memories of Sembach from our championship AYA football team in '67, Babe Ruth baseball champs in '68, bagging groceries at the commissary, our AYA Berlin Trip in '69, and of course, the AYA dances every weekend. Everyone remembers Mt. Whitey....how many of you remember the treacherous and narrow path that took you down to it? That was the real challenge! I was able to link up with Larry Eldreth, Steve Gronniger and Fred Harris a couple of years ago down in Jacksonville and with George Connors at a Sembach reunion in Dallas. I've also hooked up with both Lanny and Kristin Reeves on separate trips out to California. It would be great to hear from folks that remember me.

Comments: Just found that the site is back up and running. I'm an "OLD" Tiger as you can see. But what I find interesting is that the kids from many years later still have the same memories as me. Football in the bowl, Suicide Hill, Maids Rooms (we won't go there), playing army in the woods, AYA, teen club, bowling alley, and on and on. What a great place to spend some younger years. We did not have a junior high in my day. Went to school at the base library, just above the football field. Thanks for having this site to let an old sentimental fool have his memories. For those of you who don't remember me.. I have 2 brothers Nate and Neil Ballard. My dad, Coach Ballard, spent a lot of time working with the football program there at Sembach. My mom, Kathy Ballard, worked at the AYA and worked with the Cheerleading program for years. She did not like try outs so she took us all and made one big squad.. remember!! It was so much fun the camps, the competitions, the basketball and football games! Those were the days. I am currently a 3rd grade teacher in Alabama. Comments: Lots of fond memories of Sembach, but especially the sledding hill (Killer Hill), the ball diamonds and generally having a good time. If anyone remembers my family (my dad's name was John, my mom's name is Nova and had 4 siblings: Jeanna, John and Vernon Frisbie and Mike Clark), drop me a line. My 2 oldest brothers played football (vikings). My brother Mike was playing "smear-the-queer" with some friends and broke his thigh bone and had a full body cast. Comments: It's amazing how many Sembachers are around. There weren't to many around when I was there. My Dad was the CO and we moved to Sembach when the housing area first opened. All the buildings were a dark grey. No bright paint then. I was 12 when I went to the school in 56-57. I remember Suicide Hill; it wasn't called that then, but I know it well...still have a scar over my eye when I slid into a ditch. I do remember my time there was the best, and I always smile when I think of it. If anyone knows of any of the kids (we're old coots now) that were then I would greatly appreciate it. I saw that someone mentioned Tisha Oiler in their comments; her younger brother, Todd, was my first kiss! I miss Sembach and am so sad it is no longer an airbase. The pictures on this site brought great memories. Maybe one day I can go back for a visit. I also saw Zenobia Porter mentioned in a comment. I was in your class Zenobia. My friends were Tisha Oiler, Rachel Rohr, Christine Perrin, Juvember Andrews, and I know there are more, I just can't remember names. I have been married now for 11 yrs and I have 4 children. Drop me a line some time. I remember the AYA basketball days, going down town shopping, brautwurst, and gummie bears...the good ones, not these fake ones in America. I remember waiting to get state-side candy and would pay money for it. Now I would pay money for German candy. Keep in touch. Cris
